Complementary additions in energy tax and project finance deepen the firm’s ability to finance, structure, and monetize the power behind AI and data center acceleration

NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — McDermott Will & Schulte announced that Elizabeth Crouse and Alejandra Garcia Earley joined the firm as partners, strengthening its position on a question central to today’s dealmaking: how to finance the power that data centers and artificial intelligence demand.

McDermott has been active at the intersection of energy and digital infrastructure, recently representing Copia Power in its sale to EQT Infrastructure — a deal spanning renewable generation, storage, and gigawatt-scale data center campuses. The transaction reflects a broader market shift, as the build-out of data centers has turned access to reliable power into a central concern for investors, and deals pairing energy generation with digital infrastructure now rank among the market’s largest and most complex.

Elizabeth joins the Tax Practice Group advising renewable energy, alternative fuels, and carbon capture clients, while Alejandra brings her work to the Transactions Practice Group, advising sponsors, lenders, and investors across the full life of energy and infrastructure projects.

“Some of the most consequential energy and digital infrastructure transactions in the market are happening right now, and clients are turning to us for them,” said Ira Coleman, Chair of McDermott Will & Schulte. “Alejandra and Elizabeth cover an energy deal end to end from financing to tax. They’re also exactly the kind of lawyers we build around: client focused, results-driven, and collaborative.”

“As energy and digital infrastructure converge, clients increasingly need integrated solutions across project development, financing, tax and commercial structuring,” said Carl Fleming, global co-head of McDermott’s Energy & Project Finance Group. “Elizabeth and Alejandra strengthen our industry-leading energy tax practice as well as the integrated cross-firm capabilities of our Digital Infrastructure & Strategic Capital Platform, particularly as we help clients finance increasingly complex power and AI infrastructure projects.”

Elizabeth advises top strategic and corporate investors, developers, and operators on structuring and maximizing the tax credits that make renewable power, clean fuels, and carbon capture projects financeable, as well as the tax equity investments and platform acquisitions built on them.

“The financing and tax questions in this market don’t get solved separately anymore,” Elizabeth said. “The deals that get done are the ones where structure and credits are worked out together from day one. That’s exactly the kind of platform McDermott has built in energy and digital infrastructure, and it’s why I wanted to be part of it.”

Alejandra’s experience spans every stage of a project, from construction and term loans to tax equity, and credit transfers, across a wide range of generating technologies and major infrastructure assets.

“My clients are moving quickly to finance the next wave of power and data center projects, and they want counsel who can pull the financing, tax, and commercial threads together in one place,” Alejandra said. “That is what drew me to McDermott: its command of energy, tax, and infrastructure work, and a clear commitment to digital infrastructure. I’m looking forward to helping the firm’s clients turn that ambition into closed deals.”

Alejandra has advised on projects spanning solar, wind, hydro, storage, biofuel, carbon capture, and natural gas, as well as major infrastructure assets including airports, water treatment, and toll roads.
