ATCP launches its Certified Arborist program, raising standards for safety, professionalism, ethics, and quality across the tree care industry.
AUSTELL, GA, UNITED STATES, September 2, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Association of Tree Care Professionals (ATCP) today announced the launch of its ATCP Certified Arborist program, a new arborist certification built to raise the standard of professionalism, safety, and accountability across the tree care industry.
The ATCP Certified Arborist designation is open to anyone working in tree care, not just business owners. Crew members, Climbers, Operators, Sales Staff/Estimators and Owners can all pursue the credential as a way to prove their knowledge and their commitment to doing tree work the right way.

The certification exam covers the core areas that matter most in day-to-day tree care operations , including proper Arboriculture l practices, ANSI A300 pruning standards, ANSI Z133 safety requirements, emergency tree response standards, professional ethics, biology, plant healthcare and proper sales practices. Passing the exam signals that a professional understands both the technical and ethical sides of the trade.

The arborist certification is currently available to ATCP members within the United States. Candidates must hold an active ATCP membership to sit for the exam, which is being prepared for remote, proctored delivery.
Looking ahead, ATCP plans to add an ATCP Certified Sales Arborist designation for professionals who focus on client-facing and sales roles. That credential is currently under development and is not yet available. ATCP will announce it once the program is ready.
