The event will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a tour and light refreshments to follow.
Edwina Justus made history as the first African American woman locomotive engineer in Union Pacific’s history, breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated industry and paving the way for future generations. In recognition of her achievements and impact, The Belvedere community has named a street in her honor – “Edwina Justus Loop”.
Ms. Justus will be in attendance for this occasion and will be formally recognized by the City of Roseville Mayor Krista Bernasconi, who will present a proclamation and documents commemorating this milestone. The dedication represents not only a tribute to Ms. Justus’ legacy, but also a celebration of progress, diversity, and the spirit of innovation.
“The Belvedere is proud to honor a figure whose story reflects resilience, courage, and achievement,” said Derrek Lee, Owner of The Belvedere. “This dedication is a lasting symbol of her legacy and an inspiration to the community.”
“This dedication honors a true trailblazer whose legacy represents progress and resilience,” said Christopher Brown, President of NEXT New Homes Group. “We’re proud to celebrate Edwina Justus at The Belvedere.”
The ceremony is open to the public and members of the media are encouraged to attend.
